PPP, MQM talks in final stages: Gov.t sources

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) will soon rejoin the PPP led coalition government, Geo News reported.

The channel quoted government sources claiming that telephonic talks between President Asif Ali Zardari and MQM chief Altaf Hussain Thursday night were the turning point between the two parties.

In the first stage Ishtarul Ebad Khan will reassume his office of Sindh Governor, the sources said and added that talks between PPP and MQM were in final stages.

MQM had parted its ways with the PPP government, both at provincial and federal level in protest against the postponement of polls on two Karachi constituencies of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly. MQM’s Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad had also tendered his resignation.

MQM claimed that the monumental decision to part ways with the PPP had been taken because of the PPP’s autocratic and coercive attempts to force the MQM to give up one of the seats won in the last AJK elections.

MQM had decided to sit on the opposition benches with immediate effect both in Sindh and in parliament.
