Trends In Womens Fashion

bustles-and-corsets.gif Fashion, unlike anything else in the world of women, forms one of the most important and dynamic facets of their lives. It not only follows but to some extent defines a woman's character and personality. It is very easy to tell what kind of woman you are talking to simply by observing what they are wearing, or how they are wearing it.

Over the years, women's fashion has undergone so much transformation that men's fashion appears to be at a standstill. The mode of dressing has undergone numerous transformations from the very conservative, like the bustles and corsets of the Medieval era to the outright daring pencil jeans of the twenty first century. Of more interest, however, are the factors that have shaped this transformation. Society has played a large role in determining what the women wear. In the period before the late nineteenth century, society was highly conservative and male dominated. This meant that women had less freedom to express themselves and were restricted to dressing according to certain social standards or norms. These expectations were not communicated subtly but were lay out there for all to see. Young ladies were taught all facets of social dogma and etiquette which undoubtedly included their dressing. Even in a society such as this, it was still possible to notice wide chasms in the way women dressed even within the same culture. Most of the disparities arose from class or social status, however, somewhere in all the clamor of social norms, was an element of taste, however subtle it was.

Over the years, as society became more liberal, women became more daring and expressive in their dressing. Many forms of dressing began to arise, including the trousers, which were traditionally reserved for the men. Trends In Womens Fashion varied from individual taste to hometown influenced. As women's fashion became more and more about the women, and less and less about society, which was mostly male influenced, it developed the potential to become one of the largest money makers in the world. An opportunity that did not go unnoticed. Designers began to emerge with more innovative and sometimes shocking designs. Eventually fashion giants emerged with big time designers like Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang and Kate Spade rising to the top of the fashion Linkindustry. More noteworthy is the fact that even men have opted to cash into the market, which was initially a purely feminine affair. They have risen in the ranks and are just as frequently featured in the world of women's fashion as their female counterparts.
Along with with the many types of clothes available for the women, clothing accessories have also evolved and now play a very central role in shaping a woman's outlook. Certain items such as belts and purses that were traditionally functional accessories have become more and more aesthetic accessories. They have ranged from belts to jewelery and even pets. This facet of the fast growing industry is now considered very central and has an infinite capacity for growth. As the years go by and society changes through the eons, it would prove an interesting challenge to try and guess what women will be wearing in the next millennium. The only thing that is certain at this point is that as long as there is time, there will be fashion.
