Sure, it may be tempting to buy a two-in-one sunscreen and bug spray—it’s cheaper than purchasing them separately, and saves you time since you only have to apply one lotion. But experts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention aren’t big fans. Here’s why: Most of these combo lotions warn that you should only apply them three times a day, because anything more than that exposes you to too much repellant. But if you’re out in the sun all day, three applications isn’t enough to keep you safe. So stick with regular sunscreen, and spray on bug repellent as needed after that.
