Witherspoon to return to Africa Fashion Week New York

Bill Witherspoon is to present his newest collection at of Africa Fashion Week New York 2011. Produced by Adirée, AFWNY is set to take place on July 14th, 15th, and 16th in New York City’s Financial District at the Broad Street Ballroom.

Last year at AFWNY, Witherspoon was the closing designer, exhibiting a colorful men’s collection, infused with a collage of texture. This year, on July 15th, expect inventive designs

“I design collections for men who have a freedom of spirit and pave their own way in life” said Witherspoon.

AFWNY includes runway shows hosting 21+ designers from various countries in Africa and those of the African Diaspora, exhibitions, and industry networking events. Opening designer Korto Momolu and designers like Washington Roberts, Saint Wobil, AAMAA Couture, Bill Witherspoon and others will showcase.

Born in Greensborough, North Carolina, Bill Witherspoon helped organize 7 on 7th and showcased his collection at Parsons school of Designs, financially backed by famed author Omar Tyree. Later the collection was featured in EBONY Magazine. Witherspoon has shown at the Apollo Theatre, the city museum of New York and designed the garments for Time Warner 2007 product launch. Bill Witherspoon studied design at the UNC Chapel Hill in North Carolina. His women’s collection can be found at The Brownstone, located in Harlem New York.
