Gloria Wavamunno to showcase at Africa Fashion Week New York

Gloria Wavamunno will showcase Thursday, July 14th at Africa Fashion Week New York 2011. AFWNY, produced by Adirée is set to take place on July 14th, 15th and 16th at the Broad Street Ballroom in New York City’s financial district.

Gloria WavaMunno is designed to capture the essence of femininity. Miss USA pageant is femininity personified. June 19, 2011 in Las Vegas, Miss California Alyssa Campanella was crowned Miss USA. Throughout the event, the contestants’ flaunted colorful, embellished, evening wear – a signature of Gloria WavaMunno. The pageant also focused on their contestants ability to be versatile, a quality WavaMunno takes on specializing in casual, cocktail and evening dresses as well as bridle wear, swimwear, sunglasses and other accessories. Wavamunno uses African fabrics with silk, chiffons, and velvets to create fresh, modern pieces.

AFWNY includes runway shows hosting 21+ designers from various countries in Africa and those of the African Diaspora, exhibitions, and industry networking events. Opening designer Korto Momolu and designers like Washington Roberts, Saint Wobil, AAMAA Couture, Bill Witherspoon and others will showcase.

Gloria Wavamunno, daughter to Kampala businessman Gordon Wavamunno, established her fashion line in 2009. She debuted her collection at African Fashion Week in Johannesburg, South Africa. The Ugandan designer has also been featured in Arise Magazine.
